Getting owned my patootie! BoB and friends are being pushed back a little more each day. The BoB strategy of having their cap fleet pop up in system every now and then, inflicting minor losses, and scampering off has only delayed the inevitable. Coalition forces have absolute control over all FIX station systems 22 hours out of the day. (We usually need to spend an hour dodging Titans.) BoB has thrown everything they've got at us this weekend and has failed to dislodge the Northern footholds. FIX has been reduced to throwing ever smaller waves of T1 frigs and shuttles at us in fighter-bomber runs, resulting in lots of dead fighters. They seem to be approaching the limit of sustainable losses, and will in all likelyhood be evicted from their stations by the end of the week. In the meantime, while BoB forces desperately try to shore up their flagging tenants, LV has been abandoned to it's fate. The Eastern forces have taken several of their systems, turned their industrial centers into smoking ruins, and effectively crippled their cap fleet. It's only a matter of time before the LV remnants are forced to flee back into Empire or BoB space.
To be clear, the BoB cap fleet is capable of precise, co-ordinated maneuvers that utilize overwhelming firepower, allowing them to defeat any opponent foolhardy enough to engage them head-on. The concentration of forces necessary to do this enables them to dominate the system they are in. However, this war is not being fought in a single system, but in dozens of key systems throughout the south. Each time the BoB fleet takes action in one of these systems, coalition forces make progress in the others.
The original poster was correct that this has become a war of attrition, but it is one that BoB is losing. Their fleet is strong, but limited in numbers and is inadequate to defend their vast territories. BoB will gradually be pushed back into an ever dimininishing area of space, before falling to the combined might of the coalition. It might take three weeks, or it might take three months, but we will be triumphant in the end.
